Cabrido serves as visiting lecturer in Myanmar

Mr. Nestor Cabrido, a Philosophy and Theology Instructor of the School of Education, Arts and Sciences (SEAS) is currently a visiting lecturer at Kachin Theological College and Seminary (KTCS), Nawng Nang, Myitkyina, Myanmar.

“What interests me most as a visiting lecturer is not my career elevation, but my direct experience in a new environment, that is, the state of being, the happiness I feel teaching another nationality like the Kachin people,” told by Mr. Cabrido in an email.

He is teaching six English subjects, namely: Academic Writing, Correspondence and Business Writing, Cutting Edge Elementary, Cutting Edge Intermediate, Public Speaking, and Teaching Methodology. He is also required to render Service Learning and accomplish a Research while being immersed.

Spearheaded by Mr. Cabrido, a speech choir was conducted first time in the history of KTCS.

“Kachin students are talented; they love music. They are simple, polite and honest learners. They are very creative, and they need proper motivation and confidence to bring out the best in them,” he said.

Mr. Cabrido was sent by the University through the United Board Program which sends visiting lecturers to other schools in other countries. His immersion at KTCS is from Dec. 2016 to May 2017.

He is the second visiting lecturer sent by USL in Myanmar after Mr. Herbert Corpuz, Dean of Student Affairs, in SY 2015–2016.
